On Saturday 4th February 2022 St. Stephens International School Khao Yai sent an enthusiastic robotics team to compete in the VEX IQ: Pitching In National Robotics Tournament. The team consisted of Bell and Yaya, both Year 6 students. The team members were very independent and laser-focused all day. The girls’ strategy to hang the robot off the bar consistently got them six points in each of their qualifying matches. On the other hand, the strategy to shoot the ball into the bucket proved slightly more challenging than expected. At the end of the day, the team finished in a very respectable 16th place out of twenty-five teams. Mr Paul, Ms Joy, and Nurse Oh were extremely proud of them for such a strong showing at their first competition. Many other participants were older secondary school students and experienced participants. The winning teams from the weekend will go to Dallas, Texas to compete in the VEX IQ World competition in May. We can’t wait to return to St. Andrew’s Bangkok for next year’s competitions.
