On Saturday 4 May the dorm students visited Ban Tha Chang Spring for some swimming.
Our event started with a downpour of rain but it cleared quickly so the students were able to enjoy the springs. At about 16:30 in the afternoon, we packed up the van and drove to Wat Tham Sila Thong where the entrance to the bat cave is. After a quick safety briefing, head torches were handed out, and the cave exploration began! The cave was very alive that day thanks to the rains and we saw a lot of different types of specialised insect life living in the darkness. We explored the two main chambers of the cave and left after about 40 minutes in time to visit the restaurant “Bat Tales” to eat dinner and watch the bats leaving the cave at about 17:30. The bat exodus lasted about 40 min and everyone watched, while birds of prey hunted the bats as they left the cave. It was a great day and everyone said they had a good time.
