Year 5 IPC Entry Point Trip to Khao Yai National Park

Mar 04 2019

On Thursday 28th February, Year 5 ventured to Khao Yai National Park for their entry point to their new IPC topic, ‘What a Wonderful World’. Luckily, the weather was perfect for a day full of outdoor activities. To start the day off, they played a game called loris ball. By playing the game, they learned that animals need a habitat to live, and sometimes humans can have a big impact on those habitats. After that, they created a model to see how rivers are formed. Then the Year 5 class learned about invertebrates by examining the life cycle of a dragonfly. They were able to collect several different kinds of invertebrates from the river, and draw detailed sketches using magnifying glasses. After a peaceful lunch break by the river with some deer to keep them company, they journeyed into the forest for a long hike. During the hike, they saw some giant hornets and macaque monkeys. They also heard the beautiful song of howling gibbons. Finally, they picked up a few souvenirs at the gift shop and headed for home.
