Year 1 IPC Flowers and Insects topic

Students in Year 1 have been studying information texts in English. To coincide with their IPC Flowers and Insects topic, the children all wrote a non-fiction book about an insect or minibeast of their choice. The children researched their chosen insect, gathering information on different features and habits of the animal. They then explored the different features you find in a nonfiction book, such as headings and subheadings, and pictures, labels and captions. They then used their research and knowledge of non-fiction texts to plan and write an original information book about an insect. They worked very hard and produced some fantastic books.
