St. Stephen’s International School celebrated its annual Wai Kru Day, a long-standing tradition in Thai culture, a little differently this year with 6 separate ceremonies taking place; 1 each for Year 1-3, Year 4-6, Year 7-9 and Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form, on Thursday 24 September 2020, and for Early Years on Friday 25 September. The students assembled in Pavilion 1 to pay their humble respects, expressing their gratitude and appreciation to their teachers and in return receiving their teachers’ blessings. This year the ceremony adapted to the “new normal” by practising social distancing, but nevertheless, Wai Kru was still a blissful and meaningful experience for both our teachers and students. It was very impressive to see them bringing their own bouquets of flowers to pay respect to their teachers.
