St. Stephen’s students achieve record IGCSE examination results

St. Stephen’s International School, Bangkok, is celebrating its best ever IGCSE results. Year 11 students achieved a 92% A* - C pass rate and, even more impressively, 52% of the grades awarded were either A or A*. This is above the previous best performance and well above UK levels.  In addition 50% of students achieved 5 or more A*/A grades and 97% of students achieved 5 A* - C grades.

 Of particular note were:

 §  Earn  who achieved   7 A* and 2 A grades

§  Ben   who achieved   6 A*, 1 A and 1B grades

§  Tigger who achieved 5 A*, 2 A and 1 B grade

Principal John Rolfe said:

“These results are absolutely outstanding, and a great credit to both the students and teachers. The results are particularly gratifying as we are not an academically selective school.  I am also particularly pleased to see that the vast majority of Year 11 students achieved grades A* - C in the IGCSE First Language English examination; a considerable achievement for second language learners. The standard, and number, of students moving into the Sixth Form bodes very well for this important area. Congratulations to all.”

Results were also very good at AS and A level with a 94% pass rate across all examinations.

In Year 13 36% of the grades awarded were either A or A*.

Of particular note were:

§  Cherie who achieved 2 A* and 2 A grades

§  York who achieved 1A* 2 A and I B grade

All of the Year 13 students a obtained a place at their first choice university with the majority attending universities in the UK.

New Head of Secondary, Dr. Kevin Hylands, said:

“It is great to see students with such high aspirations being so successful in their A level studies and progressing onto high quality universities.”
