Friday 16th February was the Chinese New Year, which has been celebrated at St Stephen’s as one of our international events. A site adorned with traditional Chinese decorations including red lanterns, greeted the students, parents and staff. It was great to see so many students dressed in traditional Chinese dress and taking part in the parade led by the sixth formers with the primary school students too. All of the students watched a fantastic Dragon and Lion dance and many took the opportunity to feed the dragon or walk under the tail for good luck for the new year. Students learnt about a range of Chinese skills and customs with secondary students putting them into practice in a House competition at the end of the day. I would like to say a particular thank you to our sister school who visited for the day to form an honorary fifth house with some Year 7 students and sixth formers.
