St. Stephen's held its Chinese New Year Celebrations on Monday 30th January. Students, teaching staff and parents took part in a range of different activities after watching a Dragon and Lion dance. Activities included making (and eating) dumplings, painting the character “福“, kicking shuttlecocks, a quiz and practising using chopsticks. Secondary students also watched a stage show of music and dance items performed by teachers and students. The students really enjoyed the activities and learned a lot from them.
Chinese New Year is one of the most important festivals in China and a key part of Chinese culture. By taking part in different activities on our Chinese New Year day, students learned more about Chinese culture as well as about the Mandarin language. This year we are celebrating the Year of Rooster.
