As part of the Thai culture and history curriculum, the Thai department organised a Thai field trip to Ayutthaya for Year 6 students on Thursday, February 10th.
In accordance with the school's consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the teachers in charge of organising this trip made a pre-visit to all sites in order to plan a safe trip for all students.
The tour began with a visit to Wat Chaiwattanaram, one of the most beautiful historical sites in Ayutthaya. Later, they visited Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most important temple in the Ayutthaya Kingdom, which is located within the grand palace grounds. The students also visited Viharn Phra Mongkolbophit, which is located south of Wat Phra Si Sanphet and houses a large bronze Buddha image considered to be one of the most important Buddha images in Ayutthaya. The students then went to the Japanese Village to learn about the Ayutthaya Kingdom's relationship with Japan, focusing on the Japanese community, trades, and military.
This was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about Ayutthaya's rich heritage. Students had a great time not only exploring historical sites but also learning about the Ayutthaya kingdom's history.
