On 16th March, St. Stephen's joyously celebrated World Book Day with students (and staff) impressing us with their creative costumes and brilliant door decorations. The students were also given the opportunity to meet our award winning guest author, Tanya Landman, who visited the school and signed copies of her book. She has won the Carnegie Medal for her title 'Buffalo Soldier'. A broad array of literacy based activities formed the theme for the day which enabled students to widen their experience of literature. We were extremely impressed with the effort that students made, and believe that events like this continue to inspire them so that they reap the rewards from promoting and engaging with reading and writing.
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, the Primary children and staff paraded to show off their costumes themed on a character from a book. We were joined by many parents to start our activities for the day. It was wonderful to see such a variety of costumes from all involved, and to see many of our Secondary students in costume too.
