Secondary Teacher of English

St Stephen’s International School, is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified, dynamic and enthusiastic teacher of English, to join our successful teaching team at our Khao Yai Campus to start August 2017.

The English department follows the English National Curriculum in Key Stage 3 and in Key Stage 4 provides IGCSE courses in Second Language English, First Language English and World Literature. All students study English up to Year 11 and are set according to ability. The ability to teach Drama in Key Stage 3 would be an advantage. Drama is not currently offered above Key Stage 3. All public examination courses are provided by Cambridge International Examinations.

There is a position of responsibility available as the Whole School Literacy and Language Coordinator available for the right candidate.

It is essential to:

  • Be experienced in teaching  Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Be a native English speaker
  • Be appropriately qualified (e.g. BEd or a first degree and a PGCE)
  • Provide three professional referees, one of whom must be your current Principal

It is desirable to have experience of:

  • Working with children for whom English is not their first language
  • Working with children and parents whose cultural background is different from your own
  • Working in the international sector

The Khao Yai Campus is located near the town of Pak Chong and is at the entrance to Khao Yai, Thailand’s oldest national park, it is 150 km from Bangkok. The school has been open for 20 years and caters for both boarding and day students. There are currently 138 students on roll across Primary and Secondary. It is a very picturesque area to live and work in. The school caters for Nursery to KS4.

Successful candidates for teaching posts will normally be offered a two year contract.
